After starting the bronco I unplugged the Ignition wire from the solenoid. This changed the tune on the motor. The motor revved up and dropped low in rpms. Plugged the wire back in and it revs back up as normal. I unplugged the Ignition wire again and tested it with a volt meter and it is running 8 volts while already started.

Is this normal? I thought the ignition wire does not carry constant voltage.

Duraspark II?

I cannot explain the weird idle issue....probably something feeding back to the duraspark box or coincidence.

8VDC constant I would think is probably pretty normal for the ignition wire. This is the running voltage after current has passed through the ignition ballast resistor. It is probably variable dependent on engine rpm and ballast resistor size.

The ignition coil is fired on the ground side by the green wire from the duraspark module. This is where you will pick up a pulsed signal.
