I am going to be ordering a 408 for my 89 bronco. I want to keep efi. Planning on doing a MAF swap. So here is where my question starts could you run a air gap manifold and fabricate a elbow of sorts and mount your throttle body to it? My reason is I have a air gap laying around and I know the stock intake manifold will be a restriction.

There are elbows available to adopt a throttle body to the intake.
However the intake would have to be drilled to accommodate the injectors.

Would consider moving to a sniper style efi setup... Then add a controller for e4od if that is what you have. If manual trans or c6 no controller needed. Going this route you wouldn't need custom tune, maf sensor, injectors, etc

Use and modify the gooseneck upper intake off an efi 460. IIRC the flange for the lower intake is close to a 4bbl size.
