I had posted a week or so ago about my truck violently blowing coolant into the overflow container after a 200 mile trip towing. Since then I replaced the TSTAT with the factory 195 deg. one, and the radiator cap, and the fluid. I dont have coolant blowing out of the overflow drastically but today it was hot here, and I took it on a 20 mile trip, when I got home the truck smelled like coolant, it was goin into the coolant res but not fiercly, and it didnt overflow, I changed my coolant last week and no oil in it, I also did my oil and no coolant in it. Today also I noticed a boiling sound in the upper radiator hose after this short trip when I got home, any ideas, bad water pump? I replaced everything under the hood less than 5000 miles ago, including a rebuilt engine install. It runs great just this boiling thing goin on. Its a 351W.

you could have a blockage some were
are you actually over heating?
what type of coolant mixture are you running?

How 'bout the radiator and fan clutch? Were those replaced as well?

Sounds kinda like a faulty fan clutch.

I tested the fan clutch according to another post awhile back on how to test it for proper operation and it seemed to work like a champ, the radiator is the original. And you know I didnt replace the radiator it is the original, I guess if I run my garden hose thru it and it comes out the bottom well it would be fine, I may try that, is that sure test? When I said I replaced everything under the hood, I meant bolted to the engine, except the intake (upper and lower manifolds) and the misc component brackets, but I mean everything engine mounted has been replaced. I have a 50-50 mix of coolant/water in it. I wouldnt say its overheating, but it has been running higher in the range of normal than ever, but then its been hotter here in PA lately, and both times it has been like 95 deg out when this happened. any advice I appreciate in this prob.

That test ain't gonna cut it amigo...water will come out the bottom because it's obviously not 100% blocked or you would know it.

If it's partially clogged, it needs to be flushed or taken to a shop to be rodded out...or you could replace it

If that's the original radiator, it's more than outlived its intended service life.

I fixed this problem today, I was lookin at my belt and realized that I could of put the belt on the wrong way, which I did. I drove 1000 miles with the waterpump spinning the wrong direction, I didnt notice any problems other than blowing coolant into the overflow tank after a longer drive when I stopped. Im a [email protected]$$. I put a new belt on before inspection when I put my smog equipment back on and installed it wrong, everything worked fine, til recently DAH! Do ya think I should of known when I had to buy a belt 2 in. longer than recommended LOL. Anyone want me to work on there truck for them LOL. Thanks guys for your help though. We need a goofball hall of fame on this sight for me.
