Well I have jumped into it now. I bought me a 4bt cummins the other day. The plan is to drop it into the bronco with maybe a ZF5 behind it. I am still in the early stages and I still have a lot of parts to round up.

looking forward to the progression of this...
dang. ive been missing out on chat way to much lately. when you start thinking about the swap?
about january or february and the itch has just been getting worse. i think i will go to the junkyard this coming weekend to try to pull me a zf5 and maybe i can find a adapter plate.
nice buy....theres just something special about a cummins in a bronco. a guy at the beach meet and greet had a 6bt in an early bronco. im definitely looking forward to this swap. i think we're gonna have to meet so i can see this thing in person!
you could always swing by and lend a hand, i pay in beer
Guess you got the van. That rules. Got an outside picture of it? I'm still considering coming to see that thing. Good stuff I'm happy for you man.
A member here (strange) did the same swap, it was super sweet! He claimed to be getting almost 30mpg on his bronco IIRC! Id kill for anywhere near 30mpg!

I came home to a big purple sign saying to contact the front desk of my apartment complex immediately. took the sign up to the desk and the lady thought it was a joke till i mentioned the van. then all three ladies came out to comment about my van and ask why i would buy something like that as a "personal vehicle." now i gotta register it or it gets towed.

I am killing for 30mpg....my bank account

HA! I can't imagine the look on their faces when you told them that the motor from the van was going in the Bronco. Probably priceless. Hell, put the Bronco motor in the van and have a super slow party van. Beer and pizza on police station front lawn in the van while the Bronco turfs it up.
I was thinking a hot tub and a bar in the back of the van. I didnt tell them i was pulling out the motor. just that it was for personal use. the less they know the better
thats awesome, hell quit renting an apartment, put a spinning bed in it ala austin powers and shag it up.

yea and make the van 4x4 and live in it too :toothless :thumbup :histerica
would it be cheaper to rent storage space for it, or find a friend that has room for it
you should be able to make something off it after you pull the engine out
The people in your complex must be dicks. The way you describe them, sounds like they give you a hard time a lot.
nah this was the first time anything has ever been an issue. i think its because this van sticks out like a sore thumb and its unregistered. hopefully they wont complain when i pull the front clip off of my bronco

Look at those engines. That's a nice set you got there. How much did it cost you to build those?
i'd love to help out....let me know when you plan to do the swap and i'll try to be there. i can't make any promises, but i'll help if i can. where in the beach are you?

Its only one engine and im not going to tear into it before the swap.

The swap will happen starting July 9th after work and hopefully it will be finished by the 18th.

Im right by where independence and holland split
keep me posted on the plans, im off the 9th so i should be able to help get it started, but sat and sunday are out. i can probably help during the week too. are you in the apartments on the left by the getty mart?
Ordered me some gauges. Exhaust gas temp, Oil pressure, and Boost gauge. Should be in today or tomorrow. Also found me a adapter plate, flywheel, starter, and clutch assembly for $800. So hopefully that stuff will be in here in a week or two.

I am definitely going with the ZF5 now. What are some good clutches to order. Seems like all the ZF threads mention Luk and Centerforce. Any other recommendations people? Gonna hit up the junkyard as soon as i get some free time. I am pulling the 4bt on the 25th or 26th.

I will toss up some more pics once my parts get in or once i start tearing stuff apart

I need a ZF5 so if you have one for sale and are close by let me know!!
