Where did you mount your tow hooks, I was thinking of just mounting them to the furthest edge of the frame and cutting out holes in the bumper. Is there anything that I should look out for when mounting them? I read something about a crumple zone, but don't know what that looks like and I didn't think I would come near it by mounting these on the edge.

Those look good. i got basically the same ones from pepboys, powder black, for 9 bucks, made by Reese (the tow hitch company). Theres lots of articls about installing these on the newer FSB's..

I have broken three of them. Two on my 79 and one on my old 88.

I think those are all made by one company, and most likely in China by now. Chrome ones are a bad idea, chroming makes them brittle. The black ones are rated at 10,000 pounds and will take a helluva beating. I've seen pics of them straightened out instead of broke.

All the ones I have broken were the black ones. I'm allergic to chrome. :toothless
