Here are pic's of the LED s I made for my truck. I tried to post about them before but I was so inept in getting the site to function that I knew I needed to retreat and live to fight another day.
Okay tail light housings new ones at A.Z. are $26.00 a piece. LED's are grote, don't know #' I got 'em from work. Parts houses ought to have a catalog. Red one is std size oval light like I've seen on snowmobile trailers and the like. Other one is a new type hasn't been out too long. We use them for licence plate illumination. It has a row of (6) white LED's in it.
I rotozipped the backs of the housing out to the aproximate size, then I used the 60 sec. epoxy to hold the assebly's in place then I used the fiberglass mesh fill any gaps around hole I cut out. Sealed it all back up with fiberglass resin. After the 'glas cured I sanded it all down to fit back in the truck openings. A couple coats of paint to keep the fiberglass from decaying, and theres the finished product. Oh I forgot to say that I used the bench grinder to grind around the edge of the grote lenses to get them off. I just wanted the led's to go thru the Ford diffuser lenses so I trashed the other lenses. And by trashing the other lenses I'm sure that it compromised the factory seal on the led's so that is why I made sure to seal them up inside the Ford lenses real good. So I got the grote plug for the S/T/T it is white=ground, black or brown = tail/marker, and red= stop/turn, the white had male bullet plugs on them so I crimped and shrink tubed female bullet 's to the truck, and crimped and shrink tubed the S.T.T. wires to the truck harness, discarded the old light bulb sockets, installed an electronic flasher for both turn and emergency, and put a small incandescent light up under the dash in the stop lamp circuit for the cruise. I did the fronts withthe same type of oval LED as the rear except they make them with amber L.E.D.'s. The front side markers I used a (3) lamp amber slimline marker, (also a grote). Glued and 'glased them all in the same fashion they look good (especially up front) they have low current draw so when I plug in a trailer I'm not overloading the stock wiring, and they should last forever, or 100,000 hrs. which ever comes first.

The fronts
the front turn signals made a star burst look. the diffusers on the stock lenses made this happen because the led itself is identical to the rear except color. Some thought the one picture looked green, but it is my camera when I shoot in the 'nightshot' mode. I posted it because it shows the star burst effect better than the standard pictures. In reality this effect is as distinct to the eye as the 'nightshot' photo.
