Hey All,

I’ve been a member of FSB for a long time and am now just getting around to this. I am on my third FS Bronco, a ‘91 Eddie Bauer, and have owned it for almost 3 years. I bought it in Dallas, TX, when we lived there briefly, and drove it to AZ last December. Since I bought her, I t-boned a Kia Rio that ran a red light and had to replace everything from the core support forward, along with the driver side fender, had the frame straightened and the core support straightened, welded and painted.

Last January I had the complete brake system replaced and, a few months later, I had a ‘93 Lightning motor built and installed with a 3” exhaust all the way back in her.

My wife and I have hit the trails several times and had to do some modifications after, almost, every trip. Dual Electric fans, Single Wire Alternator and completely removed all of the Smog Equipment, except the sensors.

Next on the list is a 4” Lift with extended radius arms and converting to the 4 shock buckets up front. I may do a Superlift Superunner Steering System in her at the same time.

We can’t afford regearing to 4:56 or 35” tires, so we’ll Stick with the 32” BFG KO2s until we can scrape some $$ together for those. I plan to convert to the Saginaw PS Pump system soon thereafter, if not, at the same time.

Take care,

Lightning Rob

Yo Rob,
Welcome back!
Since you were previously a member here, our help group may be able to reinstate your posts, post count and avatar. PM me if interested with your former e mail addy and user name along with your current e mail addy.

I'll give you a forum Overview anyway.
For any Bronco questions or to chat about it's planned modifications or build, it's better to post each seperately in Noobie Bronco Tech Questions. Flame free zone. This will get more attention and you can build up your post count to get into other sections such as Bronco and Ford Parts/Accessories (75 posts required to view).

Please fill out your Bronco Info with year, engine size, transmission type, transfer case type (manual or electric shift), locking hub type (automatic or manual) info & major mods such as a Lift, etc. for better responses.

Purchasing the FSM upgrade does not wave the 60 day waiting period. Contests will be held every other month; JANUARY, MARCH, MAY, JULY, SEPTEMBER. Each month in-between will be used for nominating contestants to run in the following Month.
You will get ideas by those competing.
Then get ready for the Full-Size of the Year (F.O.T.Y.)!

Hi Rob. I am new to this forum so please excuse me if I am not following proper messaging. I have an 89 Bronco that I have upgraded from the stock 5.0 to a Lightning ish 5.8L with Lightning Intake. I am doing a smog delete as well. While I have a few questions, my first is: What ECU did you use with this engine? I need to replace the current 5.0 ECU, but with many different versions out there, I am unclear as to the correct version to use. Please advise as to the Ford # for the ECU if you can. I have contacted several ECU providers, and none can answer this question. Thank you in advance. Len

Hey @sabatona. Welcome to the FSB family. The OP (original poster) hasn't been around for over two years. Suggest heading over to the '80-'96 section and starting your own thread. You'll get a lot more responses that way. Also, make sure to update your profile info with the details about your Bronco. Enjoy!
