[Dave's Bronc 90]

I filled up the Bronco this weekend and when I went to trip the odometer I was pretty shocked at the number of miles I had driven, and then I realized that I had finally done something I had never managed to do in the whole time I've owned this truck- since I now trailer it instead of driving to the trials I ran out pretty much an entire tank of fuel in low range. With the slight exception of being in high range on the access roads to and from the trails the whole tank was burned in low range. Anybody want to guess what it came out to?

I don't think that NASA can compute their fuel mileage to that level of accuracy!

Well Dave after hearing you talk about how good it runs and how well it ran at RITS I gave you the benefit of the doubt. Now I would say in reailty about 8.5.

I'll have to say that is what you get for confusing running well with running efficiently.:toothless I'd love to draw this out a little longer, but I'm going to bed. The awe inspiring number is....2.79 MPG...74 miles, 26.5 gallons of gas. Ouch! At that rate I suppose it only feels like gallons per mile! Thanks for playing.:thumbup

Well I can say that thing sure does sound mean. Atleast you got that going for it when your getting 2.79 mpg

you have to also factor in that your motor just running and not going forward wich happens alot wheelin (waiting for others taking pics exct) burns fuel as well

Haha, damn most people guessed way to high. A friend of mine has a MPG meter in his 02 Ranger with the 4.0, and last time we were wheeling in 4 low he was getting about 3mpg. I was probably doing about 1.5

You're absolutely right about that. I make it even worse because I tend to just let it idle a lot instead of switching it off every time I get out of the truck when I'm on the trail. I could probably break the 3 MPG mark if I didn't do that.

Damn, I saw this thread too late......I would have guessed somewhere in the range of 1.0 - 2.0 Gallons Per Mile, which is probably closer to the real millage considering the 2/4H (you didn't say which, just high range on the access road) used to get to the trails.

Bottom line - if you enjoyed the trails and wheelin', does it really matter just how much fuel you burned or what kind of millage you got?
