Well, I posted a little while ago about my tranny taking a dump, it lost first and second gear. I pulled it, took it apart and could find no major problems. The 1-2 shift fork was so worn it would not grab the slider anymore. The 3-4 looked pretty bad too. The 5-R looked great. The tranny was rebuilt at some point (I found a rebuild tag on the side) and all the gears and syncros look like new. I was going to do the ZF thing but I couldn’t find a used one for less than a grand, and it’s not my DD anymore, so I dropped about $120 for new shift forks at the Ford dealership. 200k+ wears these guys out or should I look for something worse?

I purchased a "bad" M5OD off ebay for just under $11 awhile back.
It was stuck in first gear.

The shift forks were worn down, otherwise the internals were in great shape.
After investigating further, it was worn out bearings that caused the problems.
The shafts couldn't run true, so the forks wore.

Although yours isn't nearly as bad, mine were worn the whole way around.
