i just had a rebuilt 302 put into my 80' but the rear main seal wasent replaced and i was informed it leaks a bit, how hard it it to change one?

What year 302 did you put in?

I don't remember exactly what year they went to a 1 piece rear main seal (I think it was '87).

If you have a 1 pc. seal then it's notthat bad.
-Tranny out, flywheel off, there it is.

If it's a 2pc seal I'd just pull the engine, and go through everything else to see what else if ****ed up, or wasn't replaced durring the "rebuild".

BTW.... I can't see why someone would rebuild an engine without replacing the seal.

(You have to remove the crank to replace the 2pc seal correctly)

BTW.... I can't see why someone would rebuild an engine without replacing the seal.

Thats what I was thinking...I hope you didn't pay someone to rebuild it for you, cause that sounds half assed to me...:shrug

i gave hi a blown(almost) 351w to do it, it was my fault i didnt order one...

get yourself a haynes manual it tells you what you need to do.

Its a challenge to get the oil pan out :thumbup
