my bronco's an 87 and it has a four speed manual (not shure what tranny it is, but it has a tall first gear, no granny low). I've noticed that recently there is a loud squealing noise from the tranny whenever i give it throttle. only in 3rd and 4th though. 1st and 2nd is fine and there is no noise with the clutch in. Is my clutch the problem?

^squeal isn't noticable when coasting in gear, only when i lean on the throttle

I had a very similar issue, it was my Double Cardon joint going out.

well, the clutch, and the driveshaft are all in usage in 1st and 2nd gear......but the noise only happens in 3rd and 4th........so i'd be looking at the transmission.

does the trans have fluid in it?

I just put some gear oil in the tranny a few weeks back, i'm not shure about the clutch or tranny's history as i've only had the bronco since february. I'm in school at the time but i'll check into it more when i get out :thumbup

Learn something everyday. I always called that an H yoke. Good to know the proper terminology.

Could somebody inform me which transmission I have and what kind of oil i should put in it? As I said above its a 4 speed with no granny low. I tried to read the tag but i couldn't really read what it said
