Are the map lights (not the dome light) and the cargo light (in the on position, not in the door position) on the same circuit?

My dome light and cargo light both work when the door is open. However, the map lights don't work and the cargo light doesn't work in the on position. My Bronco is a '94 XLT; it doesn't have the overhead console, just the dome and map lights (which will probably get replaced with a unit from eBay if I get the map lights working.) I haven't taken a voltimeter to it yet; I thought I would pick your brains for info before I started taking the thing apart again. ...all the bulbs look good.

...and... My dash lights don't work. I can't tell which way to turn the "knob" to make the lights brighter (if they worked.) Is it clockwise or counter-clockwise? I want to make sure that when I start messing around with the wires that I at least have all the switches in the on position.

I have seen a post before about this problem; supposedly there is a place where moisture and corrosion are very common. Behind the driver on left kick panel? Right?

...I don't really want to start dismantling things without good reason. I'll tackle the dash light problem later; hopefully it won't be too difficult.

Thanks,
HiLander

Turning knob left would be brighter dash lights and then interior lights.
Good Luck!

Can't diagnosis your prob. but I wonder why you would get a new light from E-bay? I got one off a 97 for $10. Bolted right in. Anyways, good luck.

I don't get a whole lot of free time from work and the nearest salvage is about 45 minutes from here. ...time is money. But honestly, I was just saying that to show my intent that I will be replacing the dim light with a more current brighter one.
What did you get your's from? ...a 97 what? Does Ford use pretty much the same dome/map light setup for their passenger cars too. ..like Mustangs, and Escorts? If so, you would think that there would be plenty to choose from.
