Im having trouble deq' ing my 79. can anyone point me in the direction of a good mechanic. I could potentially trade some work or pay outright. im in Oregon city. thanks, Mike
im failing on c.o., my original test it was only off by .42
then i messed around with the distributor to try and retard the timing but that put me off the mark by 2 full points in the wrong direction. where do i go from here?
First, put your distributor back where it was. Then, run the tank empty, and fill it up with the expensive 93 octane, and pour in a pint of 100% rubbing alcohol. This should lower your ignition temperature a slight bit, and should be enough to pass. That is, if the Co is the only thing you're not passing DEQ for
well i finally passed. i had the tank down to about a 1/4 and i poured a bottle of 108 octane in and also leaned the carb out about a half turn. i ran it pretty hard on the way there and blew right threw. Actually took a full point off of the c.o.
