You are better off selling that truck and buying a 4wd one. Btw you have 3.55 gearing.

damn it sound like you sure have alot of experience with this... :doh0715: why do you think he doesnt have 3.08's? hes not better off selling it. hes better off doing what he wants...

if i were you i'd get a 5 speed zf for it, nice 5.72 first gear and a nice overdrive for the hwy

Unless you are on the highway allot and plan to gear down to at least 3.73, if not 4.10, then I wouldn't mess with an OD (5 spd) trans. Without a regear, the M5OD will suck in 1'st with 3.08's and OD would be useless, and a zf will still be useless in OD.

Does your solid 44 have 3.08 gears in it? It's not going to work too well in 4x4 if front and rear don't match.

Mileage depends on how healthy your engine is and your driving habits, but I'm getting 14 city 15.5 hyw with my setup in my sig w/ 3.55's. I would expect that you would see something close to that.

i'm on tha highway ALOT atleast 200 miles a weekend or more.i was considering 3.73 or 4.10 just for accelerationbut tha zf5 has such a low 1st i dont know if i'll need to re-gear??

If you have the old TTB from your bronco when you did the SAS, it's a pretty much bolt in for the front. You'll have to get new front and rear drivelines (or shorten/rebuild your rear) I'm pretty sure you'll have to replace the transmission x-member... but it sounds like you want to go manual... so you already know that.

308's and 33's arent going to be much fun. I'd do 31's with that gearing. I did a 302/aod/3.55's on 33's and it sucked on hills but was ok in town.

4.10's are usually what is reccommended usually, on this board. I've currently got a 351/E4OD/3.55's with 33's. It goes pretty good, but it's like driving on stock tires with 3.08's.

ive got a 4r70w and 4.10s with my 33's and it seems like a good compromise between city/highway for mileage and power. id imagine you could get away fine with 3.73's but if youre going through the trouble to regear, go 4.10's

ok i've been punchin numbers on this computer for about a hour and a half now and tha E40d is outa tha question for me just because tha gearing is way to high.

the zf5 speed and 3.55's is my nomineecause of this

1st gear at 11mph 2400 rpms

2nd gear at 23mph 2500rpms

3rd gear at 39 mph 2400rpms

4th gear at 62 mph 2400rpms

5th gear at 73 mph 2000rpms flat

and for tha back country roads , city roads , highways and interstate thats best numbers i can come up with.what do yall think?i beleive this will be my setup..any ubjections??

I would do either:

A (the cheap way) 3.08's and the 4spd with granny low 1'st or
B (the right way) 4.10 and the zf

2000 rmp @ 73 isn't enough RPM...trust me. You'll be shifting into 4th at every hill on the Hwy. Either A or B above will give you better hwy RPM.
