Ok be interested Pepe. My sons a ticketed welder and even if I want to change the seat mounts (which I do to put in explorer seats) I need an invoice from an engineering firm to prove they did the work or I can't get certified. No certification = no Warrant of fitness. In NZ you have to get a "warrant" every 6 months displayed on the windscreen. Caught without it, its truck off the road and $300 fine.

So if you mount explorer seats and you do a good job, how do they know? I can see a obvious hack job might raise some eyebrows. But if it looks factory, do the inspectors have a list of every kind of seat that was factory? What if you say it was special order?

To be honest I never really gave it a thought.....
We have to have safety inspections in Pennsylvania but I know a guy that will not cause any issues when inspecting my rig. problem is on the liability end, if the rig fails and kills someone I am liable for it, I am sure the insurance companies look for this type of thing in these cases.

Funny you should ask rich. I installed subaru legacy seats in my safari which involved cutting and changing the seat mounts. Goes through warrants no problem. However, thats at my garage. If I took it somewhere else, and its not marked on the cert plate (if you get certed for changes like lifts etc they rivit a cert plate to the vehicle listing all the changes) then they fail you. E.g. a 4inch lift even if designed for the truck like lift kits I'd need on a cert plate. Even the 460 install I need certed even though shop mounts etc. They see it as a re-power unless that model truck came with a 460. Now whats weird is it depends on the garage. Some are tough, some arn't. No they don;t have a list of all designs that came for the truck but they can question anything that does not look factory and if so you need to produce something if you don;t have a cert plate. Yes Pepe its pretty tight over here....except for smog stuff. We are not as tight as you guys on that. All the work I'm doing to the bronco will all need inspecting then certifying before I can get a warrant to drive it, even though its all shop bought bolt on stuff.

Sorry for invading your thread Mongo. Final gotcha is if you can't produce something they can tell you to remove it all!!

I guess this is another reason I Should revel in the fact that I was born here in the good old USA. I was unaware of these laws and restrictions in other places. It's funny thou how no matter what or where there always seems to be a way to get around them.

The engine is on the floor and the frame is a little over 50% scaled. The engine is coming to work with me on Friday for a steam job and then to be worked on at lunch time! I need to remove the fuel tank and the rear suspension and the frame will be bare. Its funny how a simple little project always turns into a complete frame off restoration, I don't know why but it always seems to turn out this way for me.
Pictures tomorrow.

Nice work on the frame Mongo. Thats come up real clean :thumbup. Will look great with some paint on it.

Its been really cold and snowy here in SWPA. I have been plowing and such so its ben hard to get into the shop. I did make it there last night and got some clean up work done on the frame. Going to go again tonight and try to get the front springs mounted.

I measured the originals location before I started cutting it up. Also I made sure the distance from the center of the frame bolt of the front shackle to the center of the rear spring perch bolt hole was 132mm. That ensures that if they are wrong at least there both wrong the exact amount but I AM 99.9% sure the location is spot on exact to the original location in the 86 F-350 frame I am using as a template!

So your not gonna paint the frame before starting to bolt the mounts on? or you waiting for warmer weather then paint all?
