So I have done a few misc posts since buying my 78 about 5 months ago but I decided to do a complete post of it so show all the progress because I am really like how it is turning out.

This is what I had for the past couple years but now have a wife and 2 kids so I needed something to haul the family, so this is where the bronco came into play.

I picked this up for $500. Found it on craigslist. Looked for along time before picking this one up. Was complete and running with no rust. Just some cosmetic body damage.

HAHA...I was wondering what happened to the rest of the pics when I saw this thread last night. Look forward to seeing the progress.
Yeah, I got started and then the wife needed the computer for a bit and I forgot all about getting back on and doing more.

Here are a few more of what I started with. The wiring was a mess. Didn't start from the key. Had to get a factory wiring diagram from FORD and go through all the wiring to put it back to stock.

I have the dash all put back together. Got a stereo in it, My CB in, and a scanner. I will get some more pics with the inside all put back together. Here is how the inside turned out with just a little clean up and some fresh paint...Oh and some seats out of a newer bronco.

I then swapped my engine, trans and t-case from my f150 in to it. I hate automatics. Had to put the 435 in it.

After getting it running again I found some frame damage behind the Steering box.

Here is what I did to fix it, Used a piece of 3/8 plate and ran it behind the box and track bar also. After fixing the frame of course first.

SO after getting the frame fixed and the engine, t-case and trans in I put the 37's under it and tried to take it for a drive down the road and realized the next move was going to be to put my rear end in it.

It was geared way to high. I believe the rear end that was in it when i got it had 3.73's in it.

When I did the rear end swap I found the lift blocks in it cracked, which wasn't a big deal, I planned on doing the shackle flip anyways so it worked out ok. Still need to swap the front end in but need to replace the axle seals and the driver side shaft from the last break

37's under it

So the next step was to get some bumpers on it to haul the important items. Here is the rear. Built from scratch with a few ideas from some other bumpers I had seen. Still need to put the back up lights on somewhere, wire the LED in the bumper in and mount the other 2 LED's in the factory holes.

And the front. It originally came off a late 80's F350so I had to modify the mounts a little and do a little trimming on the bumper, and even more on the body.

One more of the front bumper. Still need to put the LED's in the front bumper.

And that's about where I am now. Next up besides finshing the front and rear lights in the front end in and getting OBA hooked up.

Looks like its coming along very nicely. I really like how you fit that later model bumper up front. Keep up the good work.

Good job on the family wheelin rig. That's why I sold my 77 Power Wagon and bought my 78 Bronco 13 years ago. Now 2 of the 3 kids are out on their own, and one of em has a 78 Bronco of his own. You'll be glad you did this in time.

You don't waste time do you.
Well, I have had it since about the end of may. It seems like I still have so much to do and haven't got as much done as wanted to have done by this point.

I miss haveing the dependable ready to go vehicle to jump in and go to the hills in like I did with the F150. But I hope to have this one to that point or close to it soon.

Got to get it done. the snow is coming and got to have it ready for that!!!!:rockon

Well I got the mounts for the other 2 LED tail lights made tonight. Didn't get them in yet. Will get some pics tomorrow when I get them mounted up. Will try to also get the front LED in the bumper tomorrow also.

Oh and the Air hooked up tomorrow. Got to get that together before camping next weekend.

Well I got my OBA all hooked up today. Still need to mount the gauge in the dash, and put a different hook up mounted somewhere, but good enough to go this weekend.

Also got the headlight issue all worked out. All the wires ont the back of the headlights were switched all around.

And last but but not least. Got the Rear LED all mounted and hooked up, and what fun would they be if I didn't get some pics for all of you to see.

I also mounted my backup lights on the mounts for the tail lights, I will see how the work out there!!! Might have to do something else with them later on

Parking lights only....

And the Brake lights on....
