okay in my 95 costom you can turn it on without the key. i have no clue why but it does. when you do it like this the lights gages radio and all that stuff dont work. does anyone know how to fix this or know why its doing this. could i just put a new ignition in it becasue i have one laying around

You could just use the key like normal and the gauges would work? I'd probably just do that temporarily and maybe use a Club or something to lock the steering wheel in case someone broke into it.

I'm sure the ignition cylinder is the cause of your problem though yes.

Yep you need a new ignition lock cylinder....my old 92 had the same problem years ago.
