Well, here are a couple pics of the bumper I received from Davids78bronco. Nothing really too exciting like Rafs jungle gym, but I'm rebuilding the rig, however slow that may be. :cry

Only 1 bolt per side bolts up :shocked

Like I said, this mount belongs on a Datsun pickup or ATV. If you look carefully, note how skinny the mount is

my hard earned money= bumper w/shipping
10 months= the bumper to be "completed"
1 month= to come up with the balance owed to Dave
Bumper missing license plate holder, CB mount...having
the wrong shackle mount that should be for an ATV, and the bumper not bolting up= PRICELESS

It kinda looks to me like the mount has two extra holes for bolts...Seems that should take care of that part of the problem...I don't know anything about shackles, but it looks like it was designed for three bolts? Is the angle bad and they won't fit or am I missing something....Sorry your not happy with your purchase, But D78 has always struck me as a stand up guy and if there is a problem I'd be willing to bet he'll make it right..........
Good luck..........Fog

(and really I'm not flaming, just asking about the bolt holes, they do look a little close to the edges???)

i dont have experience with david either, but i dont think it is entirely his fault. he is always been a standup guy, and although he never works on his junk, i have only seen exceptional stuff out of him so far, so dont place the blame solely on him

:wtf Wes, so you're saying that david didnt build my bumper?! Look at the shackle mount- your looking down from a birds eye view. It should be about 1 inch or more, not about 3/8" thick. That mount will rip off once I try to extract myself or someone else. Foghorn, as far as the mounting is concerned, you are right, there are 3 bolt holes on the bumper. The problem is, they dont line up with the original OEM bumper holes. The customer is ALWAYS right!

What am I going to do? Ship the bumper back for another $125 one way, 250 round trip?!?! Drive from So. CA to Redmond Oregon!?! I don't think so buddy! And yes, those holes on the bumper brackets are very close to the edge of the frame, so I can't just re-drill new holes. Otherwise, I'll just rip the bumper off when I snatch pull the Excursion out. If you look carefully, the top hole is overlapping- off about half an inch. The bottom hole isn't overlapping, thus it being off by more than half an inch.

barely. What I'm not understanding is, why this is being brought up. Everything I've done had been previously cleared with these guys before I did anything - everything

Try as I might, I can't please everybody - even those that only pay half what the orders are worth

It sucks that you had problems. I do not know either of you guys, but I am assuming that you haev already discussed the problems with David before attacking in public like this, right?
Attacking? People need to be aware of what they'll get when they purchase one of Dave's bumpers. I dunno, maybe its just me, but I've NEVER seen a heavy-duty bumper with thin shackle mounts. I can understand if i was pulling remote control cars outta mud, but when I attempt a snatch recovery on a fullsize i.e.Excursion or another Bronco, that mount is going to give and things are going to fly. Here's another pic of the bumper, at home, in the driveway

Looks pretty good........... but like some paint jobs, they look good from far and far from good. I'd rather have the bumper looking/functioning well on the back of my rig, not on the ground in the driveway. Just because I paid less for the bumper entitles me to a lesser quality of a bumper? So if I paid the full amount, I would've gotten a better made bumper? -sigh- :(

Im with them lets see more pics this is the first bad i have really read about d78's work quality.... it is your money so you should be satisfied but give him a chance to fix it if you are that dissatisfied dont just flame him without giving him the opportunity to correct it. maybe you two can work something out in the shipping area.

I think this is a problem between you and dave and should be worked out between you guys.

altho I see your point, payed all that money and it dosent fit at all, something should be done to make it right

on shackle mounts, mine are just over 1/2" and they work fine, they go straight through to the frame and I have yanked out al kinds of stuff with them and not a single problem. as long as they go through the bumper to mount solid ont he frame you dont need 1" thick metal.

I used the stock bumper brackets off my bronco for my bumper and they have held just find. I dont see why you are so concerned about the bumper ripping off. if teh welds are good it wont. it does suck about the actually mount holes though, but thats not the end of the word either.

Yeah, it is between Dave and myself, but I want to let other people that plan on purchasing from him to consider what happened to me. Of course, he'll do a great job if you show up to his house, but what about people that can't do it? I "assumed" I was receiving what I wanted, but everyone knows when you assume, you make an "ass" out of "u" and "me." Dustin are your shackle mounts 1/2 all the way through to the frame mounts?
