i have a 79 bronco that has been fitted with what I think is a np205 t-case. The problem is that the output shaft for the front drive shaft is located in the middle of the transmission mount crossmember. This will require either a two piece drive shaft or modifying the crossmember to allow clearance for the driveshaft. has anyone ever seen anything like this? i would appreciate all input

Sounds like you have the stock setup to me. That truck has CV drive shafts on both front and back, with the 'CV end' of each drive shaft mounted on the T-case..which makes the front driveshaft 'just' clear the crossmember (though sometimes the cross-member has to be notched to clear the CV 'H-yoke' for serious lifts.)
