Hey guys I have a little problem with the fuel pump (i think).

Here the story. About two weeks ago I go to start the truck, it starts and dies almost instantly. I start looking for a problem, but since it was getting late i left it for the next day. The next day it fired right up! Then today I jump in and head to the gas station put in some gas, go to fire it up and it starts and dies instantly. Then nothing. I have it towed home get it off the tow truck and it fires up like normal. I assume the bouncing around on the tow truck did something. I did notice that when it wont start I don't hear the gas pump prime when i turn the ignition to on. Anybody have any ideas as to what is loose, or contact sticking, etc?:banghead

Thanks for the replys. So far I have ruled out the relay. I'll have to look into the inertia switch. is that located right next to the fuel injection where the fuel line comes in?

Ive got the same problem with my 95 F150 I6. drive it, let it sit, and it will start then die, then nothing. On mine we have it narrowed down to either the fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump. When my engine is hot, i turn the key to run and my fuel pressure will not climb, or only climbs like 5psi. So either i have a weak fuel pump, or my regulator is stuck all the way open, flooding out the engine. going to install a known good regulator today, and see what that does.

One other thing we were tossing around at the shop was the underhood temps on my truck are WAY hot, im talkin cant touch ANYTHING under there. engine is at 210* warm, gonna check fuel line temps and see if maybe im vaporizing the fuel in the lines.

Ok so what is the little box with the red push button on it? It is located on the pass side kick panel under the dash.
