Oh... you mean like the UK where...
No. Screw the UK. This crap has been creeping up on us for a long time now.

I was trying to get local attention to this one awhile back. WA state and a few other moron filled members of the republic have laid the ground work. This was only a matter of time and right now... well, you know what they say about never letting an opportunity to kick us while we're down get by.

Someone with a real keyboard and not an iPhone want to draft us up a letter? Let’s get it into everyone’s hand and to the moronic leaders.
There's only 1 leader... The President... The rest are elected Representatives... Not leaders (and that's part of the problem. They see them selves as leaders instead of Representatives). They're supposed to listen to their constituents who are supposed to lead the direction they want their state to go...

The UK health system was mentioned, so I'll chime in. Whilst stationed in England, I needed to see a Cardiologist. Sitting in the waiting area, an older guy with oxygen asked me "How long you wait for this appointment?" I reply " 3 days", he asks "You don't look like you're dying- I am and I had to wait three months!" I asked him why that is and he said " Your government will pay this Hospital before mine will!"

Your not going to get much coverage from Virginia in a Northwest forum BP, but good to know your fighting the good fight. We’ve all been going through the same crap with an unprecedented attack on 2A rights, including Virginia.

Think Governor Northam’s shutting down all indoor shooting ranges, classifying them as "entertainment" and refusing to rescind that order when the Federal Department of Homeland Security sent out an advisory that gun ranges are to be considered critical infrastructure was an accident? No. On February 11th HB 567 was introduced that would make private ownership of indoor ranges illegal in Virginia.

The key here, as you and others so rightfully suggest, is not to be complacent.

Back in January when we were ramping up for lobby day a buddy sent me the following (before certain members get a splinter rearranging deck chairs, it’s several years old, however the message remains relevant and highlights the dangers of being politically complacent):

‘Rocky Mountain Heist’ documentary on “The Colorado Model” and how a handful of rich Democrats systematically overturned a solid red state. It’s a progressive recipe still being followed today; certainly here in Virginia.

Dude... sorry but I won't waste another 45 minutes watching a video that's just going to piss me off over underhanded BS I already know or suspect those bastards are up too. I've been watching too much of that sh!t lately as it is. That's how people fall down the rabbit hole man and trust me, I'm already on the verge of building my own tinfoil rain-suit and spelunking gear.

Could be a wise move, because it does have the potential to anger a sane person.

Knowledge is power though and that documentary lays out exactly the formula that was used here in Virginia last year, from redistricting through the insane assault on our 2A constitutional rights.

Jim Lovell once said "There are people who make things happen, there are people who watch things happen, and there are people who wonder what
happened."

The documentary shows how just a handful of rich progressives were able to stuff an entire state into category 3... and it keeps replaying itself over, and over, and over...

oh hell, why am I bothering - should the tinfoil hat be rounded like a bowl, or pointy on top to deflect the radio waves?

Trust me... I understand the big money players buying a major role in the surrender of our rights. When the bill passed in WA, I was absolutely flabbergasted but blamed the Seattle area residents, living on top of each other. Then I checked local results and nearly fell out of my seat to find idiots in E.WA going along with the BS too. It still boggles my brain that people voted for it but then again, I was the life-long pot smoking, medical advocate who was urging folks NOT to vote for the MJ Recreational legalization bill WA put forth the same day as Colorado. A lot of people I knew couldn't understand that... even when I told 'em to read the whole damn bill for themselves. Most of these laws now do nearly the opposite of what the titles lead you to believe.

I go with rounded for a lower profile. Works best for the spelunking down the rabbit hole. ;)

Never let a crisis go to waste. Their formula is simple, read Rules got Radicals. The blue wave was successful in Colorado, they are trying that down here in Texas, with limited success. Austin is lost, Houston and Dallas are close behind. This Covid 19 crisis is a clear example of how governments use fear and confusion to erode freedom. Freedom is never given by a government, only restricted or taken away. This new proposal is nothing more than a total gun ban. (Think of it this way, a total ban on anything useful- yes, a single shot .22 has its use, but you know what I mean. ) I've been to many shithole 3rd world countries in my day, civilian firearm ownership is always the first thing to go before your Nation circles the drain. Virginia was a great example of people coming together to redress our grievances, unfortunately most of us like minded people stay too busy working to protest the way the opposition does.

Many Democrats have stated that this manufactured crisis is a great "opportunity" to get their Communist agenda going
Which ones?

I see a lot of right-wing kind of stuff getting pushed through, and then this one left-wing thing being sent to its death in the senate. The right-wing stuff includes the complete suspension of all EPA enforcement, trying to get bailouts for the oil and gas industry (but not renewables), not funding the postal service during the crisis. Seems like one side is actually pushing things through and the other side is not.

The right almost always concedes to the left. I will give Democrats credit where it's due, they stick together. Tony Soprano would be jealous.

The right rolled over and gave in to the left...

In Coronavirus Response, Republicans and Democrats Like Big Government

That “right-wing kind of stuff” included an additional borrowing authority of $10 billion for the Postal Service.

The USPS provides a vital service and there are issues that need to be fixed, but not in a Coronavirus response bill. It makes about as much sense as giving $25M to the Kennedy Center so they could turn around and fire most of their employees.

The freakin' Kennedy Center could be funded by it's patrons, if it is so important. There are plenty of folks that could come up with 25 million dollars apiece and not even think about it.
Typical socialists...... spend someone else's money.

So what right wing stuff? You mean like Pelosi's $42 million for ANOTHER oversight committee? So you are saying they suspended all of the EPA enforcement? I will call Bull$h!t on that. Quit spewing outrageous lies. I love to have conversations with people about politics, but I am absolutely intolerant of lying. Disagreeing and discussing facts is an effective protocol. Your crap is ridiculous.

Wow, man. From my point of view, it's completely the other way around. I see democrats willing to vote to approve some Trump judicial appiontees, but Mitch McConnell stonewalling for over a year to block Merrick Garland's supreme court appointment. The Republican-run senate calling themselves the "graveyard" for anything Democrats want. It seems like the Republicans stick together the best, while the Democrats don't seem to have a unified message or base.

Swamp, a quick google search could verify that it's not an outrageous lie:
EPA Suspends Enforcement. Link to EPA document in this article that explains it. Trump administration allows companies to break pollution laws during coronavirus pandemic

Sorta like most police forces limiting in person calls to only code 3’s (lights and sirens), while jails and prisons release inmates in the face of a pandemic.

Which brings us full circle to the topic of this thread. At a time when it is most needed, “progressives” are still trying to eliminate our right to self protection.

Polluters will be able to ignore environmental laws as long as they can claim in some

Polluters will be able to ignore environmental laws as long as they can claim in some way these violations were caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. In the event of an imminent threat to public health, the EPA will defer to the states and “consider the circumstances” over whether it should intervene.
The right-wing stuff includes the complete suspension of all EPA enforcement, trying to get bailouts for the oil and gas industry
Those two statements are not the same. It does not say complete. We just had a waste water overflow due to heavy rain and large snow pack melt a few towns over and the DNR got involved immediately even though it didn't enter a waterway . Just because there may may not be sanctions doesn't mean they are not required to correct the violation. Just let a big farm dump a bunch of manure into a local stream and I will guarantee there will be consequences. They might not get fined, but I can almost guarantee they will be responsible for damages and repairs immediately.
Sorry, but when I read the bills that so called house sends to the Senate I kinda wish the house would die with 95% of the bills. Most are just trash and meaningless and the rest are typically conflated with free money for their cronies.
