so i changed out my fuel pump. all works great except the gauge. now it worked reliably well before the swap. But when i went to drop the tank it had a bit more gas in it than i thought it should have considering what the gauge was reading. But like i said, it never failed me, never made me run out of gas. So once i put the tank back in (empty) i put about a gallon in there then drove it to the gas station to pump some 93 octane into it and i pumped in about 11 gallons, yet the gauge now only reads a quarter of a tank.

so thoughts? perhaps could the fuel level arm be stuck in the tank not allowing it to float properly, or perhaps the sending unit is just bad in general?

Sounds like a bad electrical connection.
