Title says it all, but basically...

I picked up a "new" cluster from someone. Everything works great, but the alt light stays on. I know it has nothing to do with the cluster, so what do I need to check/measure to get it to function properly?

Thanks.

How do you know it has nothing to do with the cluster? Was it doing it prior to swapping clusters? If so you probably have a bad diode in your alternator.

it never did it prior to swapping the clusters....primarily due to the fact that the original one was 1) missing the bulb and 2) the "plastic" piece that fans out from the cluster plug was damaged in that area, not allowing a good signal to get to the bulb.

basically, it was all jacked up. :)

So if it was missing the bulb the bulb could of been lit and you did not know it correct? I still say bad diodes in the alternator.
