Hey guys, Im new here as you can tell and I thought I would pop out a question. My friend and I were installing some Edelbrock valve covers for his '84 302 recently and whilst driving around afterwards we could smell burning oil. As i figured, oil spray was everywhere on the right side of the engine bay. I thought that the gaskets hadnt set right and we planed to reapply them the next morning. The next day we went out there to fix the problem and had noticed that the oil dipstick tubing wasnt connected to the oil pan, no problem I thought, I will just push it back in. Well I did and the vibration (normal) from the motor will just jiggle it out again. The tubing is still intact because it has the two notches towards the bottem of it, any help here?

Thanks

Hmm, now that I think about it we might have. What we did when installing his bling bling air filter was not hook up the emissions hose from the valve cover to the air filter. We plugged the valve cover cap hole. I have done this before without a problem so I didnt think it would be one now... :shrug. The reason we plugged it was because the hose leading from the valve cover to the air intake was rubbing on the throtle cable and was making the throtle stiff.

Well this is weird. My old friends 302 had chrome valve covers and he didnt have a hose hooked up to there, than again..it was a '73. I didnt think there would be much presure if any comming from that hose, I knew about minor fumes and all but dang. I guess we'll think of something! BTW, DeepSeaSnake what in the heck is that hose in the picture? Its a black hose from the left side of the block going over the valve cover and around to the steering pump, and has what looks like a filter in the middle... Never seen that before.
