I am looking to purchase a 93-96 Bronco. Most have 100K plus miles. What do I need to be looking for with regard to condition & cost? Are there any mechanical items that generally required replacement at or around 100K miles? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Most on here will say to search. But in general, look for rust around wheel wells, bottom of the tailgate, rain gutters crack and rust out. Check all the fluids and look at the condition of the fluid. Dirty fluid= poor maintance. But remember its at best a 12 yr old truck. It will need some kind of work done.

What part of the country are you in? Over here in So Cal there must be 15 B's in that year range at any given time...and usually under 5 grand. My neighbor just nailed a 94 XLT with a rebuilt 351, very nice interior, 4" lift and a bunch of other nice non-ghetto mods on it for $3400. Think it has about 85k on the clicker and looks and runs most excellent. And I'll give you one more little tip (from a guy who's had 22 different cars over the years) DO NOT be in a rush to write a check for one. Take a long look at what's out there, kick the ashtrays, take them for a spin, research what crap they've done to it (good, bad and drugly), narrow down your search and then have your best mechanic give it a thorough survey. Compression test doesn't take that long, nor does a vacuum test. Fluids though will tell you a bunch. I've never used a CarFax before (though my son did on his MR2 turbo) but it could be worth the small cost. My personal theory and perfect candidate is a car that's mechanically sound and mechanically well taken care of. Body work is secondary (but I don't do body work---that's why gawd invented body shops or good friends). The small, stupid cheap stuff you can play with down the road when you get board one day---muffler, manual hubs, Six Liters cool ignition upgrade, new shocks, stereo, the power window motors----stuff like that. Bottom line is that I think it's always better to pay a bit more for the right truck, rather than trying to save a few bucks thinking that an EAOD trans with 147k miles on it will last you another 2 years (or whatever, you get my point).

Anyways have fun but don't rush into anything. Unless it's something like the '74 911S i missed out on years ago 'cuz the price in the Recycler said $1,000. Instead of 10k like it normally would have been. Turns out that when I called the number at lunchtime to double check, the wife had indeed sold it to the first guy that came by that morning with a grand in his pocket. Seems that she was still upset about her soon-to-be ex banging HER secretary............

Have fun
