So if going softtopper, they sell the panels seperately so you could get the tinted top, then also buy a 2nd rear window for $60 that's clear. This would likely be a good combo. I know this doesn't help original poster much

I've only had mine a very short time, but I've noticed my dogs don't appreciate speeds over 45 mph with the sides up. It's too windy for them and they come up front in the cab with me. I'll probably keep the sides down when at speed or when it's cold out. Other than that I appreciate the shade the top provides with the breeze the sides provide when they are up.

Windows up is the way I have done it most but you still don't get the same wind flow as if you're topless.

The bikini / safari cover is strictly for my kids in the back seat.

I've got the tinted myself, but haven't lived through a winter with it yet. Here's a couple before and after shots. I think the softopper makes the truck WAY more fun to drive. In the summer I get complimented on it almost everyday. Don't think I'll ever put the hard top back on.
