Ohio WTB Large case G3 alternator 8 1/4" spread Front Cover

Probably a long shot. I have spare alternators, but they're all 7" spread on the mounting ears and since I have switched to serpentine set-up, I need 8 1/4".

I have 1 or 2 I would trade 1 for 1 and I would pay shipping both ways if that's the case.

Here's the ones I have. One has a 3/8" insert in the adjustment bracket ear. I can put an insert in the other cover also if that is desired (it's easier to adjust with only 2 hands that way).

I'm just talking swapping the front cover, so shipping isn't so expensive.

Here's the 7" ones I have.

I found a good deal on a 3G on eBay I can use, but I'll leave this on here in just in case someone would like to do a front cover trade.

I need to look on EBay for an 8.25”. I called around and seems like no yards have them. Thanks for posting your finding.

I should probably check the 3G thread, but what cars have the 8” spread? I’m going to the junkyard tomorrow and can look for them.

I found the one above by searching the Lester # 7756-7 and it was only identified by that, so that's why it was probably still there. You might also try 7756, 7752 and 7777. I got Lester # 7756-7 from the 3G info linked below.

Check the 3G thread on here, but also check this one for a list in the light green chart under the "Choosing an alternator" tab. I would suggest taking a measuring tape. I didn't one time and ended up with another 7" instead of an 8 1/4" one.

Thanks much. I have read both FSB 3G threads and Gary’s thread but I only used the vehicle listing from the 3G thread when I called the yards. I’ll use the part and Lester numbers from Gary’s to improve my search.

It also sounds like the aftermarket has some options. I have a great alternator rebuilder local and trust OEM hardware more, but I won’t be putting 50K miles/year on the Bronco either.

Thanks for providing options I hadn’t realized prior.
