This is how much I've done so far:

1995 5.0L with GT-40 intake and 65mm throttle body, long tube headers, mustang computer.
AND one of my custom harnesses. Still in progress.
The truck was a mess when I was called in. I basicly striped the entire truck and started from scratch electrically.
One of the requests was for it to look cool, and last forever.
The engine swaped in had a 3G alt on it, and he had plans for a winch one day. So I re-did the battery cables:

4ga alt charge cable
1ga cables for the rest.
I moved everything under the dash, including the starter relay.
Future winch will simply bolt onto that positive terminal on the inner fender.

I tested these battery cables I just started using for heat. The manufacturer stated they can be touched with a 500F + soldering iron and not effect the outer jacket. IT WORKED :shocked
I held my red hot soldering gun on the cable for 10seconds and nothing happened :shocked

How about a close-up of the battery terminal, and another aerial, but facing the other way, and a shot from the far side of the bay looking back toward the battery, and... shit.

It is still three battery cables, right?

I used 5 cables on it.

12" 1ga from batt poss to terminal
16" 4ga from 3Galt to terminal
36" 1ga from terminal to starter relay under dash
24" 4ga from starter relay to starter
20" 1ga from batt neg to engine block

I'll just take lots of pictures :beer

I'd go bigger on that starter cable. The starter can draw a couple hundred amps at full draw and you'd especially need all the amperage possible in the winter.

I can find a larger starter cable no problem.

but 12" of 1ga is too small for a winch
I was sure the winches came with 4 or 2 ga cable.
