So my brother and I have atv's, and we needed something to pull them around. I picked up this 93 Ford Bronco with 261k miles, 90k since the 302 was rebuilt, needed lots of TLC but is in good mechanical condition. I've taken pictures of the bodywork I've been doing, it's almost done, still needs some paint though:

Started as this:

Picked up a new bumper from a junkyard, pounded out the dents and gave it a nice flat black rattle can job:

Bumper on with new tires:

And then I went to town on the rusted fenders and other trouble areas, lol:

Yeah, I live on Mountain Dew.

^I fixed that dent in the door too, took me like 5 minutes, popped right back.

The tailgate was brutal, cut out the rust and riveted in new sheet metal (I don't have access to a welder so the next best thing for me:

And the semi finished product (how it looks now, plus the mirror):

^Notice, no more dent in the door

^That section came out particularly well, the fender still needs some rounding but I left it at that for now, it was enough to pass inspection.

And the one you've been waiting for:

What I use it for:

I have no idea how many hours I've spent on it, I don't think I wanna know. But it runs great, gets over 14mpg pulling the trailer, and it's not so much of an eyesore anymore. It has a new (used) power steering pump, alternator, battery, and tires (pulled them off our old plowtruck). Replaced the tranny fluid and filter, air and fuel filters, plugs, cap, and rotor, coolant ect.

I figure it's not too bad for a 20 year old kid without a garage. :rockon

Wow man looks like ya been busy...good work.
thats a lot of work you put into that. good job:thumbup
how much did you pick that up for just wondering?
Looks great, excellent job.
nice job
Looks like your makin some good progress.

And a slight hijack, you have problems with the front fenders on the bikes flapping when trailering them like that?
I had a Raptor too and it did it so bad the fender turned white where it was flexing at. Well it wasn't really flexing, kind of vibrating, but it still had a big white line where the fender meets the plastic front

Mike I was told to take a heat gun like for heat shrink and heat the plastic. It will make it it's color again. Just don't over heat and burn it. I did this to my Bro inlaws 4 wheeler and it got rid of all it's small scratches and made it shine again...:rockon
Good job, dude! Isn't it an awesome feeling when all that work pays off? :D

I dunno if I'm more jealous of it being flat black or that you're getting 14mpg with a trailer behind ya. :shrug

Nice work.

Do you think you could repair my body damage?
He does good work but I'm pretty sure your is beyond repair.

Bronco looks sweet nice job.
Looks good.

hey man, get some of those plastic fender flares and mount those over the cut out portion of your fender above the tires....that would cover up the rought edges.......good luck.....:thumbup

Sorry, no free time for this guy, between the bronco, my quad, my bike, and my car which is starved for attention (waiting for a short shifter installed and it needs a little bit of bodywork).

The fenders flap a little bit but not too bad, I was worried at first but ive had it up to 75 and they don't move too much, I already had some white marks on mine, and my bro's you can't tell cause his is white to start. I was thinking of getting some pressure treated plywood and mounting that to the front to protect them but I ended up not doing it because the fenders were fine.

It's a great feeling, it was kind of a risky buy, but I was confident I could do the work, it's been fun. I'll put up more pics in this thread when I get the pass. side done, and when I finish the tailgate (still needs some smoothing and another layer of bondo).

Thanks for the comments, keep them coming! :popc1: :chili: :rockon

I was thinkin about that but I really don't want to drop $200+ on flares, I'm gonna try to make them more symmetrical with the grinder when I get done with the paint. I'm not sure if I'm keeping it, I might try to sell it for some profit and pick up another bronc, maybe with a 351 or a little newer or both, haven't decided yet though.

Looks much better...

Just my opinion, but the flat black looks a lot like primer. You can get the "military" olive drab green Krylon at WalMart for like $2 a can, for about $30 you could do the truck in green with black trim, I did my old S-10 like that and it looked pretty damn bad ass. :thumbup

I took these the day I sold it, its on his dolly...

I know, I should have removed the 4X4 badge before I painted, was going to do some last minute touch ups later, but ended up selling it.

All 5 pictures here... ;)

Yeah, there are a lot of flat colors I could do, but I always wanted a flat black vehicle, I think it looks sweet. Plus it matches the trailer, and when I get around to it, it will match my quad too. The wheels may get the flat black treatment as well, I want to see if I can clean them up first though. Here are some more pics, the tailgate almost done, tire rack done, and I just put in a cd player because the guy I bought the bronco from f-ed me on the radio. It's been boring on those 100+ mile drives with no tunes :whiteflag, all set now though :rockon (< I love that icon, haha).

Only big ticket item left is an alignment, other than that just a little more paint and filler as I said before. Runs great, been on a couple pretty long trips with no problems, so I'm happy.
