Well i got my block bad but i have to send it off bc he forgot to hot tank it. But I started to look it over and found this. Its hole that leads from the valley into where the timing gear is. And it goes all he way through. Can you tell me if its suppose to be there or is it time for a 460 swap.

It's fine. As long as there isn't a hole to the exterior toward the rear of the engine, it's all right.

that dont look like its supposed to be there mainly b/c its so ridgid instead of being totaly round
but all it can do is put some extra lube on the timing chain, its fine

Go to http://www.460ford.com and you will learn everything you want to know about the 460. You will learn over there that they drill holes in there to help drain the oil from that area.

Those guys are just like the guys here, very helpful.
no this is a 351w. Sry for the confusion. But if was messed up i was going to put a 460 in it

is it just me or is that a hairline crack in the lifter bore?

also another question for ya'll. I'm building a 393 stroker by the way. But my machine guy bored it .030 over. Well i put the piston in there and started to look for clearance around the piston. And almost all the way around it seems like a perfect fit. But on one side i can see alittle bit of day light. Will the piston rings compensate for this? Or does it need to be done .040 over

Pistons are not perfectly round; they are shaped so that they fit better once the engine has warmed up. Were you taking this into account?

I thought that was a crack in the lifter bore too... And it don't look like the hole belongs there, but SigEP signed off on it, so it must be good :)
