Ya know, I don't go to eBay much anymore..... I feel it's grown so large and so many people know about it, there's not many deals there anymore. It's good for finding things you can't find anywhere else, or just small random stuff.
But I (used to) go there looking for tools..........but people are so stupid, they'll bid something up to within 10% of retail cost. By the time they pay shipping they've paid over retail, plus they have no store receipt or warranty. Anything with the name Mac or Snap-On gets pushed way high way fast. The tool section seems to be heavily polarized: quality stuff like Snap-On going for high prices, or complete garbage being sold by eBay power sellers (like the $3 grinders, no reserve, plus $20 shipping handling. Whatever.)
You've gotta monitor the items you really want and hope you can snipe them to win anything. It's a lot of time for minimal savings IMO. And once you've been ripped off once you really start questioning if all that effort was worth it to save $5
Don't get me wrong, there's deals to be had, but anymore I'll save the time pay the extra money to just buy something new, or used thru the local paper (where I can inspect it personally and pick it up).
