I have bought two things that I can remember off of ebay. One paintball gun/mask/tank and a Fly fishing rod($16!!!) The original price was still on the reel and it said $50. Both work great. I caught a 18" squafish(sp) with it last summer, which was my second time flyfishing ever. Flyfishing is a hell of a lot more fun than the other types.

I've bought and sold tons. Couple bad experiences, but for the most part good.
Ask plenty of questions, and don't be afraid to walk away.

Bought almost all my college textbooks off there - well, half.com, but it's owned by Ebay so it counts. Sold alot of my books on there as well.

Been scouting new digi cam and webcam but haven't taken the plunge and bought them, mainly because the digital that I want is still $500 on ebay.

Other than that, everything else was girl stuff. Designer purses and messenger bags, blah, blah .. all that stuff you boys wouldn't care about! :D I'm trying to keep myself from becoming addicted.

Earlier this year I was able to use an Ebay store and their extra low prices on a Surco Roof Rack, the rails and the brackets to make 4 Wheel Parts match the prices. Ended up saving over $100 total. All I had was the print outs from their website/ebay store. Funny thing, they are not even around anymore. Good timing on my part I guess.

Ya know, I don't go to eBay much anymore..... I feel it's grown so large and so many people know about it, there's not many deals there anymore. It's good for finding things you can't find anywhere else, or just small random stuff.

But I (used to) go there looking for tools..........but people are so stupid, they'll bid something up to within 10% of retail cost. By the time they pay shipping they've paid over retail, plus they have no store receipt or warranty. Anything with the name Mac or Snap-On gets pushed way high way fast. The tool section seems to be heavily polarized: quality stuff like Snap-On going for high prices, or complete garbage being sold by eBay power sellers (like the $3 grinders, no reserve, plus $20 shipping handling. Whatever.)

You've gotta monitor the items you really want and hope you can snipe them to win anything. It's a lot of time for minimal savings IMO. And once you've been ripped off once you really start questioning if all that effort was worth it to save $5

Don't get me wrong, there's deals to be had, but anymore I'll save the time pay the extra money to just buy something new, or used thru the local paper (where I can inspect it personally and pick it up).
