Hi guys, I've read through all the different tailgate window tutorials but can't find what I do if the window is stuck in the 3/4 closed position. I need to replace the motor I guess. I tried the direct hookup to a 12 volt source and the motor didn't even hum. My problem is I can't get the glass down so I can open the tailgate. I've tried pulling it up but it'll only budge about 1/4". Pushing down and it only goes a 1/4" also. I've already got another motor assembly, just need to get the glass down so I can open the tailgate. Any help is appreciated.

When you connected the 12v source, did you connect both positive & negative to the motor wires? Ground for that motor is supplied thru one of the wires, not the chassis.

Finally got the window to a position that I could reach up and under and get the motor out. Turns out the motor was ok but the plastic gear had shattered along with the torque pins. Got all that back together with new guts. Now I've got to see what's wrong with that switch that tells it the tailgate is closed, it is sticking some. Plus the window won't go all the way up, likes about an inch to be fully closed. I need to change out all the weatherstripping too. But at least I can open the tailgate now. Thanks for all the help here. I'm sure I'm going to have more questions!!

Bezels for Passenger Side Door and Window Switch 1986

Have a 1986 Ford Bronco, original owner, need replacement bezels for Power Door Switch (passenger side) and power window switch(Passenger side). The Door Switch Passenger side is my main concern. I cannot seem to find a source, in the past, LMC carried these, but no longer.

So if someone has the Door Switch Bezel (with good switch retainers), which is plastic, chome color, for a 1986 Full Size Bronco, let me know, or if you know of a source.

Thanks Bob

I am having trouble with the rear and passenger side windows. They are doing the same thing a few others were discussing. They roll up , but , stop about an inch or two from closing all the way. The weather strip is bad on all the windows.

When you get the weather strip or the seal does it come with the stuff to go all the way around the window or is it just the rubber part on the bottom? I need the stuff on the bottom as well as the stuff around the other three sides of all the windows.

hey y'all...

i just purchased a 1991 bronco 4X4 5 spd 302, last weekend. only has 89K on the engine. among other things, my driver's side power window will go down, correctly, but not up ;) ... motor seems to work fine, and i can raise the window manually with both hands on each side of the window, but slips back down while driving.

what i'm seeing here is that i need to replace the torque pin or regulator gear plugs. is that correct?

the last power window problems i had was a 1963 Studebaker Avanti, and it was a while ago...

tia. and will have more questions if i can't find the answer using the "search" function.

hey guys im having a similar problem. my driver side windows always been slow since ive had it (about 3 months) sometimes it goes up and sometimes i have to help it up. well now it doesnt go up so i have to do it by hand. if i put it up it will fall a bit and if i shut the door it falls down. i can move the window up and down by hand with no problem. like it aint in the track or something. i almost think i need the torque pins but no one had said anything about theirs falling down or moving freely by hand! could it still be that??

Thanks sixlitre. I went ahead and ripped it apart and the torque pins were pretty much non exsistent. I couldn't believe they were actually workin at all. But it was so easy to get apart I went ahead and did the back as well. Had to go to autozone and discount because they only carried 1 a peice. But it works great now! Thanks for the help

You're mighty welcome 3

That's usually all it is. On my old 86' there's a slot screw on top of the driver's side motor. Once every ten years I twist it left and right until it moves again.

Looks like I need to do this to my passenger window. If you roll it all the way down, it won't come back up on it's own, you have to tug on it a bit, then it goes up, but once it reaches the top, it doesn't stop, it just bounces off the top a bit.

Just got done. Scratched the piss out of the back of my right hand by reaching in the door. But it worked like a charm. I am surprised it even worked at all before, the pins were all reduced to pretty much dust distributed all throughout the assembly. Popped the new ones in, and it goes up strong!

Hah heffel yea that's what I said above! I couldn't believe mine were working either. I did my driver and back window and I'm about to have to do the passenger. The front doors weren't bad. The tailgate 2 or 3 times worse. If you didn't do it this time you should drill holes where the bolts are on motor on front doors so you don't have to reach in there!

So if I understand the thread correctly, the repair procedure is the same for all three windows correct? For some reason all three windows are now doing the same thing. It started with the Drivers side, moved to the Passenger, and now back to the rear a little bit. I figure I will be an expert by the time I do all of these..
