Wifey has a 99 Taurus, DOHC V6. This morning, it wouldn't start, and by the sound of it, it probably broke the timing belt (it turns over, but sounds all funky, like its missing on 4 of 6 cylinders or something, never fires)... Unfortunately, I wasn't informed of the problem until after she turned it over several times trying to start it.. what are the chances of any valve damage or other internal damage happening as a result of her attempts to start it, if it is in fact the timing belt? I've had too much happening to diagnose it any further, and am gonna have it towed to a shop for the repair, I'm just trying to brace myself for the unexpected.

What is the eight character of the VIN?

If I remember correctly the DOHC engines have two timing chains and are not interference engines.
