what do you do about the tone ring in the rear axle? Do these bigger axles come equipped with such a ring to make them compatible with the e4od and speedometer? Just curious. I thought about possibly upgrading.

10.25 sterlings have them, d60/70s can be made to accept them very easily, 14 bolts dont have them but they can be made to work with one if you are creative.

yes 10.25 would be your best bet and easiest...you just have to find a newer one with the tone ring already in it...your referring to the VSS you need correct...also you will need one w/ abs tone ring but vss is what you need

Thanks. So in you opinion which would you go with for ease of installation, as far as the electronics are concerned, the 10.25?
yes, the 10.25 is a drop in for the electronics. unplug 8.8, move it, put in big pig, and plug back in. then do recalibrate (which is easy).

However, you now need to modify your driveshaft length, unless you space back your new big axle about 2" or so.

Oh, you need a new yoke too.

don't forget it's 8 lug, so you need new rims.

There are very good alternatives that offer advantages depending on what your plan is.
