Ok guys, please forgive an ignorant question here regarding my 1990.

I have a problem with the transfer case not disengaging and from the searches I did, the electric shifting motor seems to be a common culprit.

My question is this: Is there some way to modify the transfer case and switch it from the silly push buttons over to a real shifter, or can I only do that with a case swap. I know that may sound stupid, but I have never had an electronic puch button do-hickey 4WD system before.

Thanks,

Jeff

This has been talked about a number of time. But since I have the manual I never paid much atention. I think the best thing would be to just get a manual t-case. I believe the internals of the electronic vs. manual are slightly different because of the electric shift motor. Not sure if it can even be done but I don't think it's worth trying it. You can find a manual for $300-$400.
