Ive got a 1990 Bronco with the stock 8.8" rear and 3:55 gears. The front
axle has been swapped for a 1979 solid D44 same gears.

My question is can I go as high as installing 5:13 gears utilizing the existing
carriers and if not how numerically high can I go without changing carriers?

i know with the ttb you have to switch carriers to go that high(iirc, anything over 3.73.)
you dont with the 8.8.

i think the solid 44 uses the same carrier as the ttb 44, cause i think alot of people use there existing gears when they do the swap.

You will need a new carrier for the Dana 44 if you go with 4.10 or numerically higher. Don't go with anything beyond 4.88 with the 8.8. you should girdle the 8.8 and replace the crush sleeve with a solid spacer as well.
