i have an 89 351w with the c6. When i put my truck in to reverse, or drive there is a rattling noise coming from the tranny. it does not do it in park or neutral. I checked my cat and muffler and they are still welded on snug so it is not from them. Any suggestions

I would take off the inspection cover on the front of the tranny, at the bottom of the bellhousing, and check to make sure that the torque converter nuts are tight. You will have to turn the engine to gain access to all of them (You can do this by hand with a socket and ratchet, and turn clockwise) Also, I would check the shift linkages on both the tranny and the trans-case. Check to make sure your starter is on tight. I once had the pickup extension on the trans filter come out and it made a slight rattle on the pan. If you remove the pan, check to make sure that the valve body is on tight.
