Hey guys, I'm new here.

I've been daily driving my 95 for a handful of years, but I got out of it about a year ago. Now I'm wanting to do a full re power, but I'm having a hard time finding info on what I can and can't do in CA. I would love to drop something in with about 400 HP or so, but I can't seem to find anything telling me what is CA legal, and what isn't. I'm also interested in a Coyote swap, which seems to be the closest thing to a GM LS swap.

I've looked pretty extensively, and I can find a ton of information about re powers, and different swaps, but nothing is from CA, and I'd like to keep it legal. If anyone has any experience or information, please let me know.

Thank you.

The basic intent of the California engine change laws is that when you do an engine swap, the new engine/transmission cannot pollute more than the original engine/transmission.

As long as this dumbed down explanation holds true I think you are safe with a coyote. You could also be the first person to put Godzilla in a Bronco... although I do believe someone on here might be a step or 2 ahead of you.
