I'll had the bronco up on my 4 post lift yesterday, cleaning the underbody up & I noticed the rear end vent tube is zip tied to the brake line... I searched page after page of vent tube questions but never really saw an image or description of where & how this should be mounted?

9" or 8.8?

I don't know if the 8.8's are any different or if they changed the mounting location over the years, but this is what mine looks like on my 78 with a 9". I had an extended brake line installed and I need to go back and rearrange things, but you can see the vent clipped in right where my gas tank skid plate bolts to the crossmember. There's a clip that slides over the lip there and the hose presses into the clip.

That's an 8.8. I'm not sure what year they switched, I just know the very early 80's Broncos had 9" rear ends.

I would look somewhere near the gas tank like in my pic and see if there is an empty clip needing a hose.

I'd just route it wherever. Not a big deal, unless you're trying to maintain everything factory.

I plan on routing mine with a new hose up to the filler neck tube on the gas tank, and using a zip tie or five to secure it.

That's true, you can put it wherever you want. Guys who go through deep water will route things up high, some even route all their vents to the engine compartment. Better than getting a bunch of water in your rear end...

Oh God NO!!! My goal is to restore this Bronco to be a nice cruiser for me, no off roading, heck it probably will never even see rain, or a dirt road. Factory correct is not a concern.

Its not really clear when they fully switched to the 8.8, I think around 87. Most 86s I see are 8.8s but mine came factory with the 9inch.

Good old spare parts bin.

I just grabbed a 5 foot line of fuel or vacuum line and routed mine up into the Fuel filter area of the frame rail, I launch my boat and that dunks the rear end pretty deep , so I ran it further up to avoid that .

From the factory it has clips holding it and the VSS wire to the brake line, then clips to the frame, but Mine are extended all the way to the engine bay.
