Hey, I just bought my first bronco and didn't really know much about it. I noticed a handle type thing halfway under my rear seat and finally figured out it is a striker for a latch that is supposed to be attached to the seat. Well, mine (clearly) is missing that latch. Is it okay for people to ride on that seat without that latch or should I figure something else out?

Thanks

Does your rear seat fold up?

Normally there are latches on the back of the seat at the outside bottom to fold the back of the seat down, and then the big latch in the middle to tumble the folded seat up against the backs of the front seats, giving you the most room in the cargo area.

If the back of your seat folds down without you having to flip a latch, no one should ride there. If it tumbles forward without you having to pull the big latch, again, no one should ride there. If it's solid, I don't know what you think you are missing.

I have to pull a latch in the right rear of the seat to fold it foward, but it tumbles foward without any latch-pulling. I saw the latch in someone's picture, and I have 4 holes where I can see one should be. (It doesn't tumble foward easily. The hinges are pretty stiff. But I also wouldn't want it tumbling if in a wreck w/ someone in it :banghead )

Here is a couple of pictures of what I think you need. I took my seat out a couple of weeks ago.

Right... The floor striker is there, I am just lacking the latch attached to the seat.

I wouldnt let people ride back there without the latch in place
I think that was taken care of back in 06 when it was orginally posted :toothless

I do a fair amount of camping, anyone know how to make the seat open like a taco and lay flat so I could sleep on it?
They dont fold open like that... they just tumble forward. Plus, I think if they folded open, the wheel well would interfere and not allow it to open fully.

A lot of us that use our broncos for camping will remove the seat and put a blow up air mattress back there. I think a queen sized mattress fits perfectly...
