In my '93 ever time i put it in reverse there is a pause and then an audible clunk before it actually goes into gear.....note: the tranny has been rebuilt and the rear u-joints were replaced not long ago.

it's just so annoying:doh0715:

How's the transmission and engine mounts? Is the slip yoke lubed?

i've never noticed anything wrong with the engine mounts and i had to do all the tranny mounts and stuff when i took it out to rebuild it.......and for some reason i'm drawing a blank on the slip yoke.....a complete blank

It doesn't matter when anything was changed or rebuilt. Get under there & look around. The U-joints are the most likely; the rear pinion nut is next.

its your 8.8 rear end, my 88 did the same thing as it wore out and finally blew up, rebuilt it and got rid of the clunk

Mine did the same thing. I tightened the rear pinion nut and it went away.
