ok working on the 91 fsb 5.0 e4od. tailgate window wont go down with dash switch or key in t/g. worked 1 day next day no worky. pulled inspection cover off the t/g checked for power at motor with key switch, no power.
checked for power at motor with dash switch, has power on both wires with dash switch in same postion. hold switch up has power on both wires. hold dash switch down has no power.
now could this be a bad motor? or could this be a bad saftey switch?
i did used to have to push in on t/g to use the key switch. but pushing in on t/g has no effect any more. :whiteflag:whiteflag:whiteflag:whiteflag

Probably a bad latch switch. That's the reason you had to push on it to make it work right. They do that. :cry

I had to put tin foil around the tailgate contacts to make sure the connection is there. If the tailgate isnt grouned properly on the contacts the rear window will not go down.

THere is a rubber bushing that goes around the post part on the drivers side on the body. If that is missing or broke, a quick fix is to wrap the post with electrical tape or something to make the latch work for the tailgate switch.
