I always wanted one of these roll bars in a full size Bronco. This was set in there to drill holes prior to powder coating. I drilled through both sides of the harness behind the front seats. I had to splice 21 wires to make everything work again:doh0715:

I'm not sure of any of the thicknesses. I got this one because it was truly a bolt in kit. I didn't want to mess with having anything welded. Check them out at bbauto. It was pricey to ship across the entire country and it was my first time having anything powder coated so I'm in it pretty deep. I am happy with the end result though.

Again, @wasp1971 Same as you (and anyone else curious), I got mine from All 4 Fun OffRoad I am in Atlanta and yes, I had it shipped fully assembled all the way from OR to my powdercoater with no problems at all. It was a perfect fit and I have my OEM rear shoulder belts installed. My two daughters ride in the back a lot, so that is why I went with what I did.

For my 1993 soft top Bronco I got the 1978-1996 Ford Bronco - 6 Point Roll Cage #BR12 setup. Bob took great care and was very helpful (541) 928-8600. The cage doesn't interfere with the soft or hard top.

I had other places, including some of the ones mentioned in previous threads, refuse to install the upper belt mounting bungs. Anyway, the cost of the cage fully welded was $755 + shipping and it cost me about $200 to get powdercoated. In all I was in for about $1250 including grade 8 hardware for mounting that I got via Bolt Depot online www.boltdepot.com I also used 1/8" plate steel to make custom underside mount plates that I painted flat black before install.

Freight direct to my powdercoater (I chose not to paint myself) was $255 and would have added another $75 to a residential address.

For anyone wondering, I'd HIGHLY recommend going this route. If you chose to alter the design, Bob can pretty much do what you want.

Bob at All4FunOffroad also offers the same package(s) in either "Cage Kit" or "Tack and Fit" options for less money, but to have it all done perfectly even before the powdercoaters got their hands on it was well worth it to me. The quality on mine is perfect and I'm anal retentive as hell and obviously my two daughters are very important!

Looks great! Which Soft Top are you using? Any pics from farther away with no top or with top? Looking at which version to get for roll bar and soft top currently!

@broncousa17 I am using the Rampage top in black. Got it via Bronco Graveyard. I'll make a note to post some more pics tonight when I can get to them.

I chose the style I got because of the rear shoulder belts. The style that wasp1971 has is more traditional, cheaper due to less materials and both halves bolt together, so if you don't care about shoulder belts in the rear or any real rollover protection for rear seat occupants in the event that something like that happens, then that's an option/ The thin soft top frame doesn't provide any protection.

I actually like wasp1971's setup & style very much but like I said, for me, with 2 young daughters in car seats (who love the Bronco), that was simply a no-go for me, so the "family cage" was my choice. My cage was fully welded and shipped freight on a pallet, straight to my powdercoater and finished there. Actually, when I went to pick it up upon completion, I drove the Bronco with the top off, rear seat out, etc. and set it right in for a perfect fit and drove home with it "loose".

Whatever works best for you will be fine I'm sure. The basic recommendation here from me is that you can't go wrong with All 4 Fun. It was turned around and shipped very fast and for a completely welded cage ready for paint or powdercoat and drop-in installation, you'll be hard pressed to find a more perfect solution.

Nope I need the protection for rear occupants since my kids love the Bronco too! Would love to see the pictures from a far if not too much trouble for you!

Here are some that I took the day I got home with it just set in for transport home and a few others that I hope you will find helpful.

@ broncousa17 Also, just to clarify, if you were hoping to take the soft top frame and fold it backward like you would with a Jeep or standard convertible car, you can't do that with the family cage I got. The rear protective hoop blocks the forward-most soft top support tube from clearing. I knew this going in since I researched with All 4 Fun and Rampage and that's fine with me. I usually run it with the windows all out and the canopy still attached.

You have two options when removing the full fabric soft top:

1. Fold both of the support bars forward and bungee or strap them to the rollbar where they end up laying, or...

2. Unbolt both of the support hoops from their lower-most attachment points and reattach them when you're ready to put the soft top back on.

I'm going to look into some small scale quick release pins like you see on trailer hitches (obviously small enough) to replace the lower mounting bolts for the soft top support bars, or something like the quick release "pressure tighteners" you use to adjust a bike seat's height or tighten/attach the wheels on most mountain bikes, etc. That would actually allow for a more sturdy, tight squeeze replacement hardware set for the 4 lower soft top support hoop mounting points and also eliminate the problem of a super quick removal of the hoop that won't clear the rollbar.

Know what I mean? See the pictures below for details.

Here are some with no rollbar or soft top, but with the kid's seats just for reference and one with the kid's seats with the hard top on, prior to the rollbar and soft top (the hard top will never go back on and lives stored in my basement now).

Oh, and for the quick release options I mentioned above, here are some reference pictures. One option is called Wire Lock Pins, the other is the Seat Post Quick Release Pin. I actually like the force-fit style of the seat post quick release pins but I'll have to research the proper size, etc. or even look into the same quick release pins made for the bike tires/axles or the same things made for other "quick release" applications. More research is in order.

I need to revisit these options this Spring...
