silicone works much better, and I'm sure it's cheaper.

Spray WD-40 inside the cap if you want to keep out water. does a pretty good job. If your getting mud in there I dunno what to tell you Ive never had a truck sunk that far down.

Yes I have one on my truck. It came off a T-Bird I think......?
Anyhow.....I figure it cant hurt.

I am sure it will keep all sorts of crap out.....like dust water, stray spark/arcing, and I wonder if the rubber boot keeps some of the under hood heat out.....I would think it would help the cap and rotor live a bit longer..?????

you don't really want to put silicone under the plug wires where they connect to the cap do ya :toothless

There is nuthing to worry about with the heat and the boot. Ford had them come stock on their big cars and mustangs. I have yet to find one in the junkyard though.

BTW for people that havn't seen them yet, most have 2 holes, 180* from eachother that half of the wires go out of. Theboot usually goes down past the cap.

Completly sealing a distributor is a bad idea. It needs an Ion port.
The boot works verry whell as long as you dont submerge the distributor itself.
The boot was vactory on all 1986-93 Mustang 5.0s
