So I have a 92 bronco 302. I can smell it is running a little rich and when I let off the gas it does some small backfires. I have changed some stuff when engine was out. Egr delete. Smog pump delete. Exhaust has no cats. 99% sure my timing is fine. Runs good, starts right up but would like to figure out what is making it burn more fuel. Already a gas pig don't need it to be worse. Only code I'm throwing is egr not opening. Tried my spare MAP sensor and still runs the same. Could my timing be out a hair an make it run rich? And input is appreciated!

better do a compression test. and check your fuel pressure. Specifically check the vacuum hose for the pressure regulator. if it has gas dripping the regulator has failed.
