My '87 is nearly rust-free...but not quite. The only serious spot is on the bottom of the gate, and that's an easy bolt-on part, so I'm hoping to patch it well 'nuff for a few years. Here's the plan, and any other suggestions would be great:
1) Wire-wheel all visible rust
2) Soak it in and out with Ospho
3) Fill with Bondo and or spot putty
4) Drill a few drain holes
5) Paint drill holes and Bondo
I've thought about using a penetrating epoxy to cover the rust too. Theoretically, that would seal out the air&moisture.
BTW... rust sucks!!!
