160 to get both headers coated in some kind of ceramic stuff. I have not installed them yet. Should I hold out for awhile to get the coating done or does it really not make that much differance.

IMO--Ceramic Coating is money well spent, especially on an off-road vehicle.

The coating with eliminate header discoloration, rust, carbon builtup, etc. Under normal circumstances you'll never have to buy another header again.

Oh yeah.....they look sweet too.:thumbup

Can't you get a new set for $160 or less?????????????????? If you can't or have expensive headers and want them to last, coat-em.

the headers I got are like jcwhimpy specials so its not like I dumped a bunch of money into them. Just wanted to get out of my rusted POS stock manifold. That said maybe I should skip the coating because if I'm reading your tone correctly, I'll want better ones later on.

aren't headers, headers besides coating, aren't they all just tubes?

The coating should keep the engine bay and inside the truck cooler as it helps the exaust flow better. I am looking at getting new stock manafolds and getting them coated as headers have a tendency to leak

well its a place here in Auburn called Performance Coating. I was originally told it was 50 bucks for the pair but after a quick phone call that was thrown out the window.

My mistake with the headers I run was not payin' attention to the
thickness of the mounting flange area. Haven't had any problems
with them rusting, even after 7 years of daily use. My next
set will have a thicker flange however as I'm not really fond of
replacing header gaskets every 12-18 months. Not that I'm lazy,
just that the Fel-pro gaskets, (Mr. Gasket sux by the way in terms
of lasting) are now runnin' 'bout 20-25 bucks a set.

I'm using Dyno-max long tube headers presently, and other than
my above complaint, they're OK.

Copper gaskets and a thick flange and you will be replacing the motor b4 the gaskets

Just so you know, that black coating is only to make them look good when you take them out of their box. Within 2 weeks it will all burn off, the headers will probably surface rust shortly after.

By the way, that paint burning off smells horribble in the truck

maybe you missed what I was saying, the choice of coatings come with either black or chrome and the chrome is 30 bucks more.
