Does anybody have ideas that could help me. I just replaced my engine and got somebody to drop the new 302 in my 84'. The engine sounds and runs really good but the problem is takeoff. When I press the gas the engine seems to be at a very high rpm(i have no tach) and it finally starts moving. Also when i shift into reverse(auto trans by the way) and drive there is a huge delay and sometimes it won't shift at all and I need to jiggle it. The trans fluid is full.. what else can i check? Did the guy who put it in for me do somthing wrong? I had a crappy 302 in it before with much less horsepwer and it still had better take off then now.

Take it back to the guy that installed it.
Vacuum problem maybe, either vacuum line not hooked up to tranny modulator or you might have a vacuum problem/leak on the motor, modulator not functioning properly.
