I'm doing a project for school on redesigning a soft top, what are some things that you guys would want in a soft top in the areas of utlility, function, ease of use, looks, etc. any input would be appreciated .... ps I'll post the prototype when it has been completed this summer.

well heres seems to be a list

1. use existing body holes
2. ABSOLUTELY no drilling into the tailgate
3. looks good
4. can see out of it easily
5. will withstand all weather and high winds
6. quick and easy set-up and take-down time

i would look at the STC soft top and try to improve on that....

also, i have heard of alot of ppl asking about door covers...lots of ppl want to get rid of the doors and would like a soft cover for that...i might look into that too

I think getting one that requires no drilling would be tough and what else could you do short of useing velcro? I have one on mine and i leave it on permantly and it gets parked outside (Too tall for the garage oh too wide also) and winters are pretty harsh here but it has held up so far

I'll second that one.
got a third here...the motion is passed. That is what I'm planning on doing when I make mine...I say make cause I've given up on the multiple threads I've seen with people promising they were going to start making soft tops that are everything we want and cheaper than buying the ones that are out there already.

add "fabric" as well; the Haartz nylon material being used in classic roadsters II's new design should be much better than STC's (purchased Kayline tooling & patterns, & has own design(s)) or Soft Tops' material; esp. in colder weather when removing the material or trying to stretch it back on due to shrinkage.
