I noticed the design of Tailgate spare tire carriers are a little different throughout the years, but does anyone know if they are all compatible on all the 80-96 years? For example do all the holes line up for mounting.

Yes. You can put any carrier on any year, as long as the cast body brackets fit the curve of the body corners & the latch fits the strike. You can ONLY put '80-86 body brackets on '80-86 bodies. But '87-96 brackets will fit '80-96 bodies. Also, '80-86 tailgate internal braces only have 2 nuts. So if you put on an '87-96 strike, you'll have an empty hole since they're made for 3 bolts. But it'll still fit & work. The '78~89 latch system is totally different from ~'90-96, so the latch & strike must match.
